submission guidelines

annie is open to submissions of personal essays, creative nonfiction and poetry from January 31 through to midnight on February 29, 2024. Please note that work submitted outside of these times will not be considered. Submissions sent during this window will be considered for edition three, forthcoming in Spring 2024.

All submissions should be emailed to anniejournalsubmissions@gmail.com. Submissions should also be previously unpublished, and this includes publication on personal blogs and social media platforms. We do not accept simultaneous submissions.

For an idea of the type of work that interests us, please consider browsing edition one, available here.

For submissions of personal essay or creative nonfiction:

​

• Submissions should be approximately 1000 words

​

For submissions of poetry:

​

• Please submit no more than 3 poems at a time

• Poems should be no longer than 40 lines each

​

For all submissions:

​

• Please only submit to one category at a time

• Please use Times New Roman, size 12

• Please submit your work in a Word Document

• Please do not include a bio, the editors will request one if required

• There are no parameters on theme or topic; annie will be an open and inclusive space for written works and as such we welcome discussions around any area, though we do request that authors use content warnings where they feel it is appropriate or necessary
